Sadly not available in the Dominican Republic even with the updated data from the private and social costs associated with these tragedies, much less the value of the loss in productive power. We reiterate that the lack of qualitative information useful and accessible impossible today, assessment and analysis of costs for making good decisions. Although the economic costs of each country are different, our starting point the fact of what our income level. If we rely on data from the World Health Organization and the World Bank, Dominican Republic with a gross domestic product this year from U.S. $ 85.500 million, taking us as middle income, the annual cost of road trauma amount around RD $ 46.500 million. How reliable could be this value? It’s something we have to work in concert with multilateral agencies and the Secretary General Iberoamericana. Being extremely conservative, an estimate that is what I would do. Although each country has its particular situation, as mentioned above.

However, it gives us an idea of how important it is to pay attention to the problem. Safety audits implemented on roads at different stages of design, construction and even after it became widespread, would be a tool for significant resource savings to the state. Suggest the application of such audits in the streets, avenues and highways in the identification of critical points, it would be interesting, to their proper corrections. Verify enormous advantages of preventing road accidents that would result in tangible savings in a short time. Chile has entered into this process recently.

If in fact Dominican Republic wants to be guided by the global flow of traffic or schedule care among their priorities, aiming to reduce road violence, the government must seriously address issues other side. This would have to start with the rigorous granting the issuance of license and vehicle registration certificate, as the first government initiative to establish sincere at the time of the Data Centre demanding regional security organizations. Accordingly, the government must create the governing body of their security policies in this area. It is one last question, How much resource you can count the Dominican Government with the adoption of new public policies on road safety for the restructuring of public investment, savings product of road violence prevention? The answer must be sought. Dominican, with studies in Electromechanical Engineering, Energy and Security. President of the Network of Dignity Foundation and current Deputy Land Transit State of the Dominican Republic. Author of “Book Road Safety in the Dominican Republic. Towards a Comprehensive National Plan “and numerous articles.
